Life: So Different yet so Similar

Life, a simple four-letter word that no one is able to understand completely. We, humans, have been given the right to our very existence according to Charles Darwin's theory of Evolution or by the almighty of the Bible, the Geeta, or the Quran? We really don't know the correct answer. But we definitely need to know that life has been provided to each of us for a purpose, or as some people like to quote it, everything is "destined" beforehand.

Life to some people seems so fortunate, the ones who are born rich & powerful, to some it seems confusing like me who doesn't know the purpose of life, to a smaller number it feels a blessing, unfortunately, there are a few for whom life is nothing more than a trap of responsibilities & hard work. Hard work to earn food & responsibility to make sure their family doesn't go to bed empty stomach at night.

One human life comprises many different phases, infancy, childhood, adolescence, adulthood, old age & eventually death. Each of these phases has a different essence in a human's life. Starting infancy is all about innocence and the urge to tamper or lacerate anything that comes in handy. Next in line is childhood which yet again is all about innocence, fun & a little bit of new learnings. Adolescence age starts to put responsibilities upon their shoulders, the responsibility of education, learning new skills, having the ability to help others, and a lot of playtimes. Then comes the most difficult part of human life - Adulthood. Well, it won't be wrong if I compare adulthood to an entrapped bird who's trying to get out of the cage of responsibilities just to enjoy some moments of life which, unfortunately, he is never able to achieve, he just becomes a money magnet running in circles of earning for the family. And then old age follows which makes him weak, calm & relaxed taking him close to the very end, that is how 95% of humans live their lives, but for some life doesn't seem to be so fair & simple as others might think about it.

A similar kind of incident made me all of a sudden write this blog post, today around 2:00 noon when I was out with a friend in the scorching heat of May after lunch, I noticed a small kid probably 7 or 8 years of age, selling bhelpuri under a lamp post, well he did not have any customers then, as in North India we do not prefer eating bhel puri in lunch times. I won't reveal it in detail, but yes, I did help him the best I could and yes one thing I had like to mention is he did not want money for help, all he wanted was to buy something from him, which truly touched me. The particular reason why this incident touched me so hard is that I have a younger sister his age and we make sure that she gets everything that she asks for on the other hand it was this kid who was working on a summer afternoon of Delhi, just to earn for his family and trust me when I say it, I did buy from him and the bhel puri those little hands made was amazing, the innocence of a small child and those small hands which were carefully cutting tomato & onions made it all the more valuable for me.

We as humans, are never satisfied with our lives, our desires never end, we keep looking for more. Someone has rightly said that if you want to become more successful in life, see the people who are doing better than you, who are earning better than you, only then you would excel in life. But on the other hand, what I believe is that sometimes we need to observe the people who are in much worse condition than us, definitely we are going to understand that life has been quite favorable to us in many ways.

Life is not the same for all, I'm not writing to ask you to help him or any other such kid because trust me if there is a guiding power such innocent souls would never run out of life but yes if you do help someone someday, and if you are able to bring a smile to someone's face, one thing is for sure, that day you lived 100% of what's given to you.

Above it all, I just want to tell you what I have realized and maybe I am not the only one or the first one to say this but yes life is much easier than we perceive it to be, we tend to cry or become sad & miserable when we lose a competition or do not score well in any exam or do not get the job of our choice or even if our crush friend zones us, believe me, it is all okay, it will all pass, just remember there are people out there who are stuck even in worse scenarios and a few in much better conditions then you. It is upon you to embrace the life given to you by your guiding angel.

Ending it with a question for the reader.

Are you satisfied with your life?
